Night of the Living Doughnut
Neal Pollack and I at Voodoo Doughnut last night:
"Ah, here's the pl.... what the hell?"
"Should I sign up? I should sign up."
"You should!"
"This could be a really bad idea."
"No. No. It's a great idea."
"Where do I sign u... Sweet jesus, look at the size of that doughnut."
[Long pause.]
[We back carefully out of the shop.]
"Ah, here's the pl.... what the hell?"
Hand lettered sign on door:
DONUT EATING CONTEST AT MIDNIGHT.
SIGN UP AT COUNTER.

SIGN UP AT COUNTER.
